Walks Unseen is Nessa's Codex, a book from her world that witches use to contain their magical research and communications.

This toplevel will contain relevant notes on the rules and history of magic from Nessa's worlds, spells Nessa has learned (and which ones she's regained) and messages she's shared with other witches.

Nessa regained Walks Unseen on August 23rd, after Physical Education 102.

[The first page has the following words:]

These pages were bound to the Void Witch, █████ ████████ on August the 13th, Twenty Twenty Two.
The words in this Codex will only be made clear under the light of her Spark.
When left dry of her Spark, these pages will return to the Void, return to the dark.

[Words that prove to be true if one flips through the books, where they'll find some pages legible, but many pitch black, with no readable text. And even the pages that can be read, anything that one could reasonably assume is a name is blacked out.]

Full Summary

Spark is the energy that makes magic possible. All witches are born with a Spark inside them that, when harnessed and trained, allows them to perceive and use magic.

Key points:
• A witch's Spark is a concentration of energy located in their heart.
• You're either born with a Spark or you're not. There's no way to lose it if you have one and no way to get it if you're Sparkless.
• There is a heavy hereditary bias for Spark - two Sparked parents are highly unlikely to give birth to a Sparkless child and two Sparkless parents are unlikely to give birth to a Sparked child. The latter is more common than the former, however.
• A witch is born with one of three types of Spark, Void, Harmony or Vulcan. A witch's Spark cannot be changed and remains the same for their entire life.

• Void Spark comes from the Void, a realm of infinite darkness outside of physical reality. It is the most poorly understood of the three types of Spark, despite centuries of research, simply because of how vast the Void is.
• Void magic is used to change and create. Void witches excel at manipulation of many things, including their own bodies. Void witches also tend to have very precise magic senses.
• What research has been done on the Void characterizes it as a vast ocean of stars. The beings that inhabit the Void, Umbrals, are eclectic and difficult to communicate with, but some Void witches manage contracts with them nonetheless.

• Harmony Spark comes from the Harmony Network, an invisible array of psychic nodes. Harmony magic is most known for its ability to Heal, something the other two forms of Spark cannot do.

• Vulcan Spark comes from the Vulcans, a race of celestial beings that offer patronage to those born with their Spark. Their magic is fierce and particularly suited for battle, often set to conjuring powerful flames or manipulating minerals to create strong defenses.

A witch's Class is a determination of the tools they use to harness their spark.

Key Points:
• The three major classes of witch are Channelers, Scriveners and Mancers.
• Channelers use their own body to focus their Spark. This is a difficult, unpredictable art and requires either great control of one's own body or unbound recklessness.
• Scriveners use words to focus their Spark and make up the majority of any given Order's academics and scholars.
• Mancers use weapons and tools as their focus. Mancers favor a learn-by-doing approach and often have the most practical experience with their magic.

Witching Orders are all witches within a particular Class that share the same type of Spark.

Key Points:
• A Witching Order is more than anything a set of guiding principles and resources. A witch distinguishes themselves within their Order by choosing which of those principles and resources to apply to their own personal theory of spellcrafting. This is done through their Focuses and Charms.
• A Focus turns Spark into a spell. Focuses are used for both "Harnessing" the Spark from a witch's body safely and "Casting" spells from the harnessed Spark. Most witches have one of each.
• Focuses have other effects on a witch's spellcasting besides their ability to harness Spark. Most witches eventually make their own Focus.
• Charms are more standardized minor spells inlaid into a Focus to enhance its power.
• Most Focuses can only hold a small number of Charms. Do not participate in Overcharming, you will explode.

All spells and magical tools Nessa has reclaimed:

1) Void Bolt, basic spell, on July 20th, from Physical Education 101

Void Bolt is a basic Void offensive projectile spell. Void Spark is converted into a burst of energy that jars and pushes whatever it strikes. The bolt is blunt and concussive upon impact, not unlike being struck by a high pressure burst of water. Nessa favors her left hand to fire the Bolt.

Nessa regained Void Bolt on July 20th, after Physical Education 101.

Walks Unseen: practicing spellwork is more exciting than reading about it!!!

Strider: ?
Walks Unseen: whaddaya mean ?

Strider: Most importantly, the admission tickets.
But additionally, the transportation tickets.
Because while the admission tickets are of utmost importance.
We'll never get to use them if we don't also have the transportation tickets.
To get to the location whereupon we would use the admission tickets.
Walks Unseen: i am literally going to close my codex and go to bed i don't even care that it's not dark out
Strider: Yes, I have the tickets.

Strider: I think the fact that we've gotten this far in our lives and this is, at absolute best, only the second time we've been able to do anything resembling celebrating is more of a sad indictment than anything.
